George Mason Softball Complex

Following a $2.3-million renovation in the offseason, the George Mason Softball Complex reopened in 2009 as one of the finest softball facilities in the region.

The field, which sits at the same location as the previous park, features a head-to-toe replacement of the playing surface. Included among the renovation is a new Patriot bermuda grass outfield, new warning track and infield dirt, new irrigation and drainage system and an extension of the outfield fence. The dimensions for the new park are 210 feet down the lines and 225 feet to straightaway center.

 
 

In each of the newly constructed sunken dugouts, players have access to private restroom facilities as well as new bullpens. The third base side features a double batting cage.

In the seating bowl itself, the stadium features 200 permanent metal seats behind home plate, with grass berm seating for an additional 500 spectators. While walking on the wide concourse, spectators can take advantage of the men's and women's restroom facilities and water fountain. The park features a brand-new public address and sound system as well as a climate-controlled press box.

From the North Using Route 495 to Route 66
(Philadelphia, Baltimore)

TO FIELD HOUSE (Baseball, Soccer, Softball, Lacrosse, Tennis, Track)

  • I-95 South (stay on I-95 and take tunnel [$1 toll] if coming from north of Baltimore)
  • Exit 27 -- I-495 West (sign will say Silver Spring)
  • Cross Potomac River into Virginia
  • Exit 49A -- I-66 West (Front Royal)
  • Exit 60 -- 123 South (Fairfax)
  • Go through 6 traffic lights. At 7th light take a right onto University Drive.
  • Field House will be on the left and the soccer/lacrosse field is to the right of the field house.
  • Baseball is beyond field house at the bottom of the hill.
  • SOFTBALL -- Continue to 123 South (Fairfax). Turn right onto Braddock Rd. At the first light, turn right onto Campus Drive. Turn right onto Rapidan River Road.
  • TENNIS--Continue to 123 South (Fairfax). Turn right onto Braddock Rd. At the first light, turn right onto Campus Drive. Turn right onto West Way.

TO RAC USING ROUTE 495 TO ROUTE 66 (Wrestling, Volleyball)

  • I-95 South (stay on I-95 and take tunnel [$1 toll] if coming from north of Baltimore)
  • Exit 27 -- I-495 West (sign will say Silver Spring)

  • Go 5-6 miles to George Mason campus on right
  • At traffic signal, right onto Ox Road (Rte. 123)
  • At next traffic signal, left onto University Drive
  • Recreation Sports Complex is first building on left, with plenty of parking

INDOOR TRACK: Inside Field House
OUTDOOR TRACK, SOCCER, LACROSSE: Field to right of Field House
BASEBALL: Field at bottom of hill to right of Field House
SOFTBALL: Stay on Braddock Rd. Turn right on Campus Dr. Right onto Rapidan River Rd.

TENNIS: Stay on Braddock Rd. At the first light, turn right onto Campus Drive. Turn right onto West Way.

From the South (Richmond, Norfolk, North Carolina)

  • I-95 North (take I-295 North to avoid congestion if below Richmond)
  • Exit 160 B -- Rte. 123 (sign will say Occoquan/Lake Ridge)
  • Go approximately 15 miles to intersection with Braddock Road

TO EAGLEBANK ARENA (Basketball)

  • At traffic signal, right onto Braddock Road
  • At next traffic signal (about 200 yards), left onto Roanoke Lane
  • EagleBank Arena is first building on right.

TO AQUATIC & FITNESS CENTER (Swimming) ** At traffic signal, right onto Braddock Road
